RACING / RIDING ETIQUETTE

Pass with care at all times.

Announce yourself before passing.

The rider RIDING on a technical section always has the right of way.   If you cannot ride a certain section and you decide to walk, get OFF the track and give way to riders.  If you cannot ride a certain section it does not mean that nobody else can ride it either !!

Keep left !

Overtake on the right !

Never tailgate. In a race, try and stay far enough behind so that if the rider in front of you crashes , or slows down, you don't  crash into them. On technical sections, stay at least one section back from the rider in front of you.

Call  "TRACK, PLEASE!" if you want to pass.

If you ever run into the person in front of you, it is your fault and it is dangerous. When following closely, always keep a finger or two on your brake levers.

Do not pass unexpectedly, and do not pass on the left. If you pull alongside, announce yourself by saying "On your right!" or "On your left!"

Mountain biking is an inherently dangerous sport. We all know that. But does that mean you shouldn't try to be as safe as you can? Safety is cumulative. So if you are doing something inherently dangerous, at least don’t add to that danger yourself by acting irresponsibly!

It is your responsibility not to be the cause of an increase in that danger for your fellow racers. Do not go around blind turns recklessly.  If you can ride faster than the person in front of you, wait for an opportune and safe time to overtake them.

Be courteous to fellow riders.

Keep your LITTER WITH YOU.  Don’t drop your empty packets / sachets.
