The Makiti ride is a relatively flat ride and starts and end at Makiti. The route heads out west from the parking lot to the Tarlton raceway and back along a similar route. Mostly sand roads with a few single-track sections and one technical rock-garden.
There is something for everyone with gentle climbs and Green to Blue route distances of 15 – 39 km.
Visitors are very welcome and encouraged to join one of the groups as a guest rider. Makiti is classified as a public outride, visitor must pay a reasonable ride fee of R50 to help cover the effort in organising and hosting the ride. Make sure to be there from 06:30 for a 07:00 start.
Visitors are encouraged to let us know ahead of time if you will be joining else arrive at the venue and ask one of the club members to introduce you to the ride coordinator who will assist with the legalities, club ride payment and help you join the right group.
We typically cater for all skills, fitness, and experience. Each group is led by a group leader and typically a sweep as well.
Typical ride groups, depending on the number of riders at the ride, are: Green (shortest distance, slowest pace and technically easiest), and then Yellow, Red and Blue in order (typically longest distance, fastest pace and technically hardest).
Bring enough money for the ride fee and extra money if you wish to join the post ride eats and drinks afterwards which we encourage to socialise and swap ride stories.
