This is a relatively new ride for JMBC that has everybody raving about it!
Ride groups: Green, yellow, red and blue
Ratings: Technical: 5/10 Hills: 5/10 Distance: 29-41 km
Starting Time: 7h30 for 8h00
Starting from: Valverde Eco Hotel
Ride Description:
This ride is more or less the same as the moderate ride ridden some months ago. The Green route is longer than a typical family ride, however, because there is quite a lot of tar, it is considered reasonable.
All the groups start out heading South and soon go off the tar onto gravel road, jeep track and single track. Green and Yellow take the more direct route from Beyers onto the old Pete-Z-area road, while red and blue continue to the N14. Red and Blue skirt past Avianto and then ride some of the single tracks South of Avianto before climbing a long single track uphill back to the Muldersdrift Road and the finally joining the yellow and green routes at the start of a magnificent 3.5km downhill single track all the way to the Cradle Road. Even though this is marked one way for the downhill, beware mad riders attempting to climb against the traffic. A long slow set of rolling hills follows past the Lion and Rhino Park, the old Teak Place all the way back to Beyers on single track all the way. All groups take a shortcut just before Beyers on some challenging single track and then finally, descend Beyers and climb back up to Valverde on a mixture of gravel, single track and tar.
This is a mountain and road bike friendly place – bring money for breakfast or a coffee afterwards.
Every one has to pay R20 to enter Valverde grounds but you get a redeamable voucher for coffee to be used afterwards. Visitors welcome at R30 per visitor payable to JMBC.
